If your squirrel's primary access point to your feeder, is climbing up the pole, or down a hanging rope or chain, then a baffle is your first line of defense.
Not eveyone's feeding area is ideal for baffle use. For a baffle to be most effective, have nothing in a 7 foot radius around your feeder from which the squirrel could make a lateral jump. Also if it's a hanging feeder, it should hang high enough that the squirrel couldn't jump from the ground. With a pole mount, it should be high enough off of the ground that the squirrel can't jump up, but also should be far enough away from anything that might overhang that a squirrel could gain access to. If your feeder is isolated from other means of access, and your pole, or rope is the only way to get to the feeder, a baffle is your best bet.
If you're not sure if a baffle is right for you, please feel free to contact us, and we'll do our best to help you evaluate your situation
